Beautiful Skin in 2010 (Part 2) – Proper Skincare for Acne
Skincare is of the utmost importance on your journey to beautiful skin because it is something you will perform daily. You must nourish your skin with vitamins and minerals as you would your body with fruits and vegetables. I am a strong believer in using natural, healthy skin products. I would also like to make the distinction between natural products, products that claim to be natural and products I consider nothing products. Let me explain in some detail, some skincare lines are so natural that they do nothing and some claim to be natural but are loaded with dangerous ingredients. The key to picking a good skincare line comes from the knowledge of what it should and should not contain. When I meet my clients suffering from acne more often than not they are using products such as pro-active which can be extremely drying on the skin and as a result accelerate the aging process of the skin. Many clients also inform me that they are using nothing at all because they believe any added moisture will make their skin even oilier. The reality is that not using a proper moisturizer leads to oil-gland confusion, meaning your glands become over-active due to the lack of moisture being provided, hence even oilier skin. A proper moisturizer will work to balance the oil glands and regulate the amount of oil produced, hence reduced oil.
Frequently clients come in for a facial claiming to have oily skin but during the facial treatment it is discovered that they have extremely dehydrated skin. It takes time for skin to reach a healthy state, we recommend following a skincare program for at least six weeks to notice changes. In many cases changes will happen earlier but if you have had troubled skin for years it will take time for your skin to heal and reach a healthy state.
